Jurassic Park: Dilophosaurus ( new art) by Hellraptor Jurassic Park: Dilophosaurus ( new art) by Hellraptor
Dilophosaurus
name means double crested reptile
Codename: Spitter
Length: 7 m
Height: 1, 8 m
Weight:400 kg
Diet: Carnivore
Age: Early Jurassic, 199-191 mya

Dilophosaurus was probably the most colorfull and unique dinosaurs bred by InGen. They were bred on Isla Sorna and moved to the park during the early 1990´s.  The clones did have several traits that the real animals lacked, this was most likely to genetic splicing. The juveniles was venomos and had a large, retractable frill. They could spit a black, slimy, thick goo up to six meters. The venom causes blindness if it hits they eyes.
The venom is a deadly cocktail of lethal enzymes that makes the prey defensless to the dinosaurs attack. The parks dilophosaurus were nocturnal and hunted in group or alone. They didnt have a very powerfull bite but one but thanks to its venom, it dont need strong jaws. Its possible that the only the juveniles were venomous and as the animal gets older, they will loose ist venom glands.  They were curious and often fooled in experienced personal with being harmless. At least one keeper lost his arm efter being bit by one. He was forced to amputate it in order to survive. During the incident in 1993, two persons  was killed by this species.

Dilophosaurus was not present at Jurassic World and its unknown if they still are residing in the restricted area. Its alos possible that small population lives on Isla Sorna.

Dilophosaurus lives both on Isla Nublar and Sorna

Extremly dangerous, proceed with caution.

First Appearance: Jurassic Park( Novel) 1990

Does the real Dino have the acid/venomous spit? Or is that just for the movies?

No they do not. I've heard the Ingen scientists filled the gaps of the genetic code of that of Spitting Cobra and Frilled Lizard DNA. The clones gained a frill and venom glands, adaptations were the original animal never had.

It just in the movies, its supposed to be a result of genetic splicing.

This look is awesome on the Dilo! And yet for some crazy reason I still picture it with a frill, albeit one of feathers...

Sweet job here! Real Dilophosaurs were much bigger than the one in the movie, and much scarier as they didn't have nor need a frill :)

All that's missing is a shirt that says "I heart Nedry... for dinner!" (LOL, just kidding ;) )

Wonder if we'll see a cameo of dilophosaurus in jurassic world 2. Was kinda disappointed that the only appearance it did in jurassic world was as a hologram.

But anyway. Awesome art!

I decide for one of my Ingen Lost file to Crossbreed a Dilophosaurus, and a Velociraptor.  How do you think that would have been.
